ACCA Manual J (Residential Load Calc)
The ACCA Manual J are a set of Residential calculations that estimate the total peak heating and cooling capacity required for the conditioned space of a Residential construction project. The calculations build a model of the residence, using predetermined values for insulation, window thermal values, and other values which effect the overall heat transfer of the structure, and effect capacity of the a/c unit.
The ACCA Manual J is required for all Residential new construction permits. However, it may also be used to validate capacity of an exiting a/c unit or size a replacement unit when a permit is not required.
